Foods and Nutrition, Semester Course / Grade 9–12
This course emphasizes the selection and preparation of nutritious foods. Topics include consumer decision-making, the basic concepts of nutrition, and the planning and preparation of nutritious meals in a foods laboratory.

Housing and Interior Design, Semester Course / Grade 11–12
This course is designed to prepare students to make the complex decisions needed for creating a desirable living environment. Topics will include: resource management, the various types of housing available, exterior and interior design, home furnishings, equipment and careers in the housing and interior design field.

Independent Living, Semester Course / Grade 11–12
The objective is to prepare young adults to be successful in an increasingly complex and demanding environment and to prepare them for the future. This course has four major components: (1) the individual and his/her value systems; (2) the individual's relationships with other people, including communication skills; (3) strategies for coping with daily life, including management of resources, consumer issues, and the establishment of a home; (4)the future, including technological and bio-medical developments which will cause change in lives and society.

- Term project or term paper. Approximately 7 exams.

International Foods, Semester Course / Grade 11–12
The major emphasis of this course is to allow students to plan and prepare foods from a variety of cultures. Nutrition, food products, cooking tools and equipment and special preparation techniques will compose the major portion of this course. As appropriate, the students will briefly study the history, sociology, geography, art, music and costumes of each culture.

- Foods and Nutrition with a grade of "C" or better.
- Required reading:

Marriage and Family Studies, Semester Course / Grade 11–12
The emphasis of this course is to prepare students for successful family life. Instruction includes values, goals, and decision making; building self esteem; building and maintaining interpersonal relationships; communication skills; dating, love, and mate selection; engagement and preparation for marriage; preparation for parenthood and family life; managing personal and family crises; family and community support groups; and the family as an economic system.

- Midterm report, a final project and wedding project. Approx. five exams.

Parenting and Child Development, Semester Course / Grade 10–12
Students will learn to understand the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth and development of children through ages five, as well as their care and guidance. Instruction includes qualities of a potential parent; responsibilities of caring for a child; nutrition, health, and safety concerns; the exceptional child; and the community resources and agencies of help to families in need.

- Midterm projects and final projects, infant and preschool observation. and participation in various activities. Approximately 7 exams.

Peer Counseling I and II, Semester Course / Grade 9–12
The major emphasis of this course is to help students become more sensitive to the needs of their peers and to give these students the skills and attitudes to be more effective in helping their peers. The course is designed to develop the techniques of building friendship and reaching out to peers who are lonely, shy, and in need of friends. This is a leadership class.

Teen Living, Semester Course / Grade 9–10
The major emphases of this course are understanding growth and behavior patterns of adolescence, personal relationships with family and peers, the importance of appearance and appropriate dress, personal health and nutrition principles, communication skills, coping with pressures and crises, and maximizing individual potential. Identification of talents, skills, and abilities will be approached and related to career planning. Cultural influences on adolescent development will be explored.
