Health and Life Skills Department Courses
Health (One-semester course)
This course emphasizes the development of concepts, attitudes and skills necessary to make effective health decisions. The topics covered are personal health, consumer and community health, injury prevention and safety, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, nutrition, environmental health, family living, individual growth and development, communicable and chronic diseases. Some aspects of human reproduction and sexually transmitted diseases are covered.

Life Skills for the 21st Century / Grade 9 (One-semester course)
The major emphasis of this course is to provide students with knowledge and skills essential in academic environments as well as the workplace. The course will help students to understand high school graduation requirements, career pathways, and options for higher education. This course will provide students with surveys to better assess their aptitudes and interests as they relate to school, career and personal life goals. Through class activities, students will enhance their interpersonal relations, cultural insights/perspectives, and conflict resolution skills.
